Mechanical Watch Design Analysis

As part of the module "Machine Element Design", we were tasked with disassembling a machine of our choice to conduct stress analysis, suggest design improvements, and to recreate it via CAD.

Being a closeted watch nerd, I naturally chose a mechanical watch movement for this project. Being able to spend the school's project fund to buy a watch was, of course, a bonus. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of trying to understand and disassemble the 4R36 watch movement. I then recreated the relevant components of the watch movement for analysis via CAD using Solidworks.

Overall, this was a very fun and memorable project which tested my CADing skills, physics knowledge, and of course my dexterity.
